A typical view of Mt Shasta and Redding from Happy Valley in winter.
The valley was somewhat ravaged by a large forest fire a while ago, and some of the evidence remains in this 2005 photo. Still, this is a lovely area of rolling foothill woodlands, and while some of it is pockmarked by fire, and the effects of long ago placer mining, there are several nice areas to be found in Happy Valley. One recent upscale development on the edge of Happy Valley with stellar views is Amber Ridge. Much of the area is characterized by inexpensive manufactured housing on multi acre parcels. HV hosts a Strawberry Festival every year. If you enjoy a rural setting not far from the city, then this may be an area to consider.
